Year 11 pupil Adam praised the ‘Further Educator Provider Event’ at Pleckgate saying he had learnt about a range of new opportunities.
At the moment Adam wants to go to Blackburn College to study Applied Science and either become a physiotherapist or a vet but he was still open to other opportunities.
“I have enjoyed the morning. I learnt about different apprenticeships and jobs, what qualifications you need and how to apply for them.”
Zainab said: “It’s been interesting. I want to go into architecture so I have found out useful information.”
Hamza wants to do something ‘hands-on’. “I have a rough idea of what I want to do – either become a structural engineer or go into plumbing. I want something hands-on so it has been useful to find out what is out there.”
Assistant Head Mr Cadman and Communications and Engagement Manager Mrs Faruki organised the event.
Mr Cadman said: “We have 13 providers in school, from colleges to sixth forms to apprenticeship providers. They have been talking to pupils about what they offer, from A-Levels, to BTEC qualifications, T-Levels and Apprenticeships.”
“It means our pupils receive a broad and balanced experience, giving them plenty of advice of the opportunities open to them so they can make a well-informed decision about their future.”
Mrs Faruki said: “It’s been such a successful event. We pride ourselves at Pleckgate on giving our pupils as much information as they can to pursue their dreams. We want them to be aware of as many opportunities as possible which are open to them so they can make the best decisions.”
