All pupils must wear school uniforms as detailed in our uniform policy. Pupils are expected to wear their uniform each day and when representing the school. We want our pupils to look smart, responsible and create a positive impression within our local community. We ask for parents/carers support in supporting us to ensure that all pupils wear their school uniform in line with our standards.
If parents require support to provide school uniform or PE kit for their children, please contact your child’s Head of Year.
We have provided specific guidance below to support parents/carers when purchasing uniform:
Blazer – Compulsory | Navy blue with embroidered school badge. |
Jumper – Compulsory | Navy blue with embroidered school badge. |
Tie – Compulsory | School design only clip on tie. |
Shirt/blouse- Compulsory | Plain white, cotton or polyester – not aertex or tee shirt type. |
Skirt | Navy blue pleated with embroidered badge worn at knee length. Pupils are not permitted to wear leggings/trousers underneath the skirt. |
Trousers | Navy blue straight legged trousers (not skinny fit or ‘jean’ type material and not black). Trousers should be full length covering the ankles. |
Socks | white or navy-blue knee length socks OR navy blue tights. |
Headscarf | Headscarves must be the approved design with the school logo purchased from the school shop. |
Shoes | Black smart flat school shoes only. The shoes must cover the whole foot. The following shoes are NOT permitted; dolly shoes, heels, ankle boots, casual shoes/pumps, sport branded shoes e.g. Nike, Reebok, Kickers, Adidas. Please see the pictures attached for further guidance on appropriate footwear. |
PE Kit
Pupils are required to wear the full Pleckgate branded PE Kit. Pupils must wear their school blazer over their PE Kit.
- Blue sports top with white piping, red flanks and school logo.
- Navy blue shorts or navy-blue tracksuit bottoms with embroidered school badge.
- Navy blue socks.
- Black or navy blue Trainers (fluorescent colours are not permitted).
Please note; Pupils are not permitted to wear t-shirts or tops underneath the PE kit. Pupils are not permitted to wear leggings underneath shorts. They must wear shorts OR tracksuit bottoms.
Outdoor Clothing
Please note these items are only permitted outside the building. Pupils should remove their coats on entry to the building. Pupils are not allowed to wear hoodies. Outdoor clothing worn inside school will be confiscated.
- Outdoor coat – Navy blue or black ONLY. Casual hooded jackets or jumpers, suede, leather, denim, jackets with large logos and graffiti are NOT permitted. High visibility garments will be provided for no cost upon request from the Head of Year.
- Hats and gloves – In cold weather pupils may wear black/navy blue winter hats and gloves. Baseball caps are not permitted.
Jewellery, Makeup and Hairstyles
Pupils are not permitted to wear any makeup or jewellery including earrings and nose studs.
- Pleckgate supports the wearing of items of religious significance such as the Taweez, Kangha, Kirpan and Kara.
- Pupils are allowed to wear wrist watches. However they should be removed for practical lessons when necessary or any lesson where they may pose a danger. Individual subject teachers will make the decision.
- No facial or body piercing is permitted for Health & Safety reasons.
The school will temporarily confiscate inappropriate items of jewellery and valuables. The school cannot accept any responsibility for the loss of valuables.
Hairstyles and Colouring
Parents should be aware that we do not permit extremes of fashion in pupils’ hairstyles or dress or additional accessories in pupils’ hair.
- Added hair colours must be natural and subtle (bright colours, including shades of red, and dip dying, are not permitted).
- Hair braiding is only acceptable without beads or accessories.
- Close shaved heads and patterns cut into hair or eyebrows are not acceptable. Very short hairstyles or extreme hairstyles (e.g. where some hair is very short and the rest is not) are not acceptable.
- Pupils who have shoulder-length hair or longer may be required to tie it back for PE lessons or Health and Safety reasons if it obscures the face.
Please note: If a pupil persistently ignores the uniform policy the school will employ further sanctions (please also see Exclusion Policy).
