Rehearsals for our school production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! JR are under way as we prepare for our performance in the summer term.
This week pupils have been rehearsing the scenes in Fagin’s den, including the hit song ‘I’d Do Anything’ from the musical. Zainab Ahmed in Year 10 is playing Fagin in the production and can be seen in the chair with the gang singing around her. Pupils are making great progress with their performance skills.
Here are some quotes from the cast.
“Oliver has made me feel more comfortable speaking out of my dialect (at times, and also just speaking to an audience) and singing freely and louder too, without feeling anxious to the point where I feel like I can’t do it or where I feel scared. I feel excited to rehearse my scenes and sing solos, and also with everybody else.”
“Oliver has made me more confident and given me something to look forward to.”
“Oliver is such an amazing experience that I look forward to everyday and is such a good opportunity.”
“I love being a part of Oliver. It’s very fun and I look forward to it every single rehearsal.”
