We encourage reading for pleasure as an integral part of our pupils’ daily diet. Research shows that reading for pleasure can promote better health and wellbeing, as well as an increase in reading attainment, writing ability and self- confidence. Reading at home can create connections to the wider community and provides insight into the world view of others.
We are delighted to be holding a ‘Scholastic’ book fair in the school library. The book fair will run from Wednesday 24th April until Tuesday 14th May 2024.
The book fair will also be available at the Year 8 Parents Evening on Tuesday 30th April and the Year 7 Parents Evening on Tuesday 14th May.
Pupils will be able to view the books in the library before and after school, at break and lunchtime, as well as in reading lessons.
Books can be bought at the book fair with card payments only; please note cash will not be accepted. Orders can also be made online on the Scholastic website by entering the amount you have spent, by clicking on this link: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay/1315194
If you order online, you also need to email the list of books and prices that you want to order to Mrs Hanson at dhanson@pleckgate.com by Monday 13th May at 12pm so that this can be matched up with your online payment.
All online orders must be completed by Monday 13th May at 12pm to allow us time to get the orders together.
