Our generous pupils raised £3583 for Blackburn-based charity Benefit Mankind to raise funds for families who are battling to meet their basic needs, including putting food on the table.
Year 11 pupils Zaibaa Karolia and Fatima Surgeon initiated the campaign and pupils organised various events.
There was a cake sale with brownies and treat cones on offer.
A raffle was held to win a PlayStation or £50 worth of vouchers, generously donated by STACI UK and Mayet Estates, and more than 100 doughnuts were donated by local business Simply Doughnuts for the pupils to sell.
Zaibaa and Fatima expressed their pride in their school for successfully raising a significant sum of money for the community of Blackburn.
“We have worked hard over the last few weeks but it has all been worth it with the amount of money we have raised,” they said.
Dr. Mulla, CEO of Benefit Mankind, said: “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Pleckgate High School for their unwavering commitment to supporting struggling families amidst the UK’s cost of living crisis.
“Throughout the month of Ramadan, the students and teachers dedicated themselves to initiatives aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by many UK households.
“The proceeds will be instrumental in providing essential support to families in Lancashire. With a focus on emergency food aid and hygiene kits, Benefit Mankind’s teams stand ready to ensure that no individual in need goes unnoticed or hungry.
“The collaborative efforts of Pleckgate High School have undoubtedly made a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing adversity, reflecting the power of compassion and unity within communities.”
