Open Evening at Pleckgate

Pleckgate High School finally opened their doors to prospective Year 7s as they held their first post-Covid Open Evening.

The Ofsted outstanding school is oversubscribed again this year and welcomed families into the school to have a look around and sample some of the lessons, for pupils starting high school in September 2022.

Headteacher Mr Cocker said: “After a very different 18 months with the Covid restrictions, it was fantastic to be able to welcome our community back to Pleckgate”

In Modern Foreign Languages, there were a wide range of activities including learning about different cultures, sampling a range of cuisines and having some fun in the photo booth; in History pupils learned about the Vikings while the wide range of science experiments certainly had the ‘wow’ factor.

In Food Technology, Year 6 pupil Joyce had the chance to taste freshly-made samosas, pizzas and cous cous made by Year 10 Food Technology pupils Abdullah and Imaan, after being shown around the school by her guide, Pleckgate pupil Saaleha.

The pupils taking the examined PE qualification in year 11 showed off their new PE kit and one of them Aleezay said: “I play netball and rounders for the school, among other sports, and I hope to go into fitness or personal training in the future. There are so many extra-curricular activities to get involved with at Pleckgate.”
