School will be closed from Monday 21 October – Friday 25 October and will reopen on Monday 28 October.
There was a bumper turn-out at our Open Evening where prospective pupils got their chance to look around our outstanding school.
Every department hosted games and activities, with pupils and their parents and carers having a chance to ask questions about Pleckgate.
There was a Gothic theme in the English department, in line with their curriculum where novels such as Jekyll and Hyde and A Christmas Carol are studied.
Science was a popular venue with flame tests, the chance to make atoms, look through microscopes and put a body together!
Year 9 Maliha said: “I like Science as I like the experiments. I want to be an optometrist.”
Year 7s Ibrahim and Suleman were helping on the evening in the science department and they have high ambitions – to be a heart surgeon and a doctor or dentist.
In Geography, pupils got the chance to put a jigsaw of the world together and point out countries in a variety of activities.
Year 7 Rayhaan said: “I am a big geography fan. I want to discover new things. I have enjoyed my first few weeks at Pleckgate. I like everything about it – the teachers and the classes.”
In History, the Viking axe throwing proved popular.
Year 7 helper Aleena said: “History is one of my favourite subjects. I like looking at old times and the battles!”
In Religion and World Views, Mrs Savage was hosting a ‘Where’s Wally Religious Artefacts’ competition as well as explaining what pupils will explore in her classes.
Food Technology was a popular venue for pizza, jam tarts, cheese and onion tarts and currant cakes!
In Art, the theme was ‘Starry Night.’ Year 11 Tahleel said: “I enjoy Art. I like the classes as you get to do a range of things such as oil painting, sculpture and more.”
Countdown’s numbers game proved a hit in Maths while teachers and pupils challenged themselves – and prospective pupils – to games of chess and draughts, as well as matchstick shape making, 3D shapes and more.
In Computer Science there was a host of games to try out while in Music there was a range of instruments on show.
