‘For Hire’ facilities

Pleckgate has got the thumbs up from community members who are using the facility out-of-school hours.

Pleckgate has opened up its state-of-the-art sports facilities to the Lancashire public and one of them, Kevin MacLaren, says his young futsal team are thriving there.

“I train Whalley Futsal Club, the age group Under 5s – Under 10s,” said Mr MacLaren, who also coaches Wilpshire Wanderers Under 5s football side.

“We were looking for somewhere local to train and I went on ‘Schools for Hire’ and Pleckgate came up and we haven’t looked back.

“We use the indoor sports hall every Sunday. The staff are brilliant, they let me in early to set up and they stay behind to help me pack up and it’s very clean everywhere.

“It’s also extra safe as, at weekends, it’s used exclusively for groups like us and there is security at reception to make sure everything goes to plan.

“I just moved up from the south and am setting groups like this up as I would like to coach full-time and this has worked out perfectly for me. I have a four-year-old who takes part in the sessions so I want the best for everyone.”

School Business Manager Mr Clark said: “We decided we wanted to open up our facilities to the whole community during out-of-school hours so everyone can benefit.

“We have an indoor sports hall, 2G full-size all-weather pitch, activity studio and drama studio as well for hire.

“Schools do have amazing facilities, and we are an Ofsted outstanding school, so we want to make sure we are at the centre of our community.”
