Pleckgate High School is proud to report some outstanding achievements by its pupils in their GCSEs and other qualifications this summer.
Amongst the many successes was Uwais Mohamed Haaan who achieved 9 grade 9’s and 1 grade 8. Uwais is so proud of his results and admitted it had been challenging during the past twelve months, he said it was due to the support of his teachers who had done ‘ a great job’ in supporting him. Uwais now plans to go to Runshaw College to study A levels in maths, accounting and economics with the aim of fulfilling his ambition to become an Accountant in the future, Uswais says ‘ he has always enjoyed maths’ and wants a career where he can work using his skills to the full. Also successful was Muhammed Dilawar who achieved 4 grade 9’s, 5 grade 8’s and 1 grade 7. Muhammed was successful in gaining a 100% scholarship at Westholme Sixth Form to study maths, physics and computing. He has aspirations to be the next Steve Jobs and is looking forward to a career in computer science.
Faatimah Omar joined Pleckgate in Year 9 and says this is one of the best decisions she made. Faatimah achieved 7 grade 9’s and 3 grade 8’s. She plans to study medicine and become a dentist, but first she will study A Levels in Biology. Chemistry, Psychology and Maths. Sara Rafique, Mehrin Bapu and Layba Afzal have all achieved amazing success with 12 grade 9’s between them. They describe Pleckgate as a great experience and want to thank all the teachers for all their support. They will all study A Levels and are planning careers in Accountancy and Medicine.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. Although the government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year, we are certain the pupils at Pleckgate have secured fantastic qualifications.
Mr Cocker, the school’s Headteacher said: “We are so very proud of all the work and achievements of our pupils, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Everybody at Pleckgate has worked tirelessly to ensure pupils are all able to progress onto further education and study, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future. We are once again oversubscribed in year 7, and as the journey at Pleckgate comes to an end for our year 11 pupils, we are really excited to welcome our new year group in September”
