The 2024 Blackburn’s Inspiring event took place at King George’s Hall.
Previously named Blackburn is Hiring, the event is now in its seventh year and is made up of both education and training providers as well as local employers.
This year the event hosted 68 exhibitors (including the University of Lancaster, Blackburn College, Lancashire Constabulary, Booths, Forbes Solicitors, Future U and Get Set Academy) and was attended by almost 2200 young people throughout the day.
Cllr Julie Gunn, the borough’s executive member for children, young people and education, said: “This is a great opportunity for our young people to see what opportunities are available to them.”
“It will offer advice, training and career opportunities giving them an insight into what skills they need to go forward. The previous Blackburn’s Inspiring events have been a great success, and we will look forward to welcoming our young people to engage and become inspired about their future prospects.”
Romaisa said: “I liked that there was a range of stalls that could give me multiple choices for my future. It really made me think of what I want to do after my GCSEs.”
Shifa said: “The talks and discussions we had were interesting and they gave us greater understanding on what I want to do in the future for my career.”
Mohammed-Murtaza said: “The event was a great opportunity for me to see the different options that are available to me.”
Maryam: “I loved that people were extremely respectful at the event and told me all about what their colleges, universities and businesses can offer us after we leave school.”
